WHALE SHARK PADI DISTINCTIVE SPECIALTIES

These courses are designed for those who would like to learn more about the mighty whale sharks than the introductory information that will be provided on our Whale Shark Adventures.

The courses are flexible to better meet the needs and interests of each student. We will cover topics including: reproduction, basic biology, habitat, habits, feeding, research, identification and interaction. Our course not only covers general information about Whale Sharks but also specific information about the Whale Sharks of the Ningaloo Reef.

We start out with a short theory session, usually the day prior to your Whale Shark Adventure. On your Whale Shark Adventure you will put some of the things we have discussed into practice and when you return we finish the course with a debrief and short discussion to answer any questions you may have come up with!

We also introduce you to various current research and Photo ID libraries and show you how you can become involved in the important collection of data. You don't have to join the course to help out - contact us for how your photos of whale sharks from anywhere in the world can add to our ever growing knowledge!

Our World Exclusive PADI Whale Shark Specialty Courses are available daily throughout whale shark season and there are no minimum student numbers so suiting your schedule should be easy. Our Whale Shark Specialty Courses are suitable for divers and snorkellers alike; PADI divers can count this course towards their PADI Master Scuba Diver rating. You must join one of our Whale Shark Adventures to participate in these courses.

Mantas of Ningaloo PADI Distinctive Speciality

Watching Manta Rays is one of the most sought after experiences by divers & snorkellers worldwide, but not much is known about them. Here on the Ningaloo we are fortunate to have a local, year round population.

Our World Exclusive PADI Specialty Mantas of Ningaloo introduces you to general information on mantas including habitat, habits, biology, reproduction, research and identification. We also delve into the specifics of our manta populations here on the Ningaloo Reef. This course is constantly evolving as more information on the Mantas here and overseas comes to light, so you will always be getting the most current information and updates on worldwide research.

Participate in building our Mantas of Ningaloo Photo ID library which is part of a growing global effort to record and learn more about the manta populations worldwide. Have photos of mantas from somewhere else? Contact us for details on how to add to the worldwide network of manta identification.

PADI divers can use this course towards their Master Scuba Diver rating; those who are not PADI divers (including all snorkellers) or who do not wish to gain a certification can also do the same course without the dive. For PADI certification, divers must also join a Reef, full day or Manta Ray scuba diving tour.
